Cover has some light edge and corner; This book consists of letters written to our grandchildren as if they were older. Though these involve imaginary inquiries, they certainly do not involve imaginary concerns, hence my commentaries are real. These grandchildren will likely ponder these and other concerns in their mature years or as young parents. Therefore, while my answers do not now intersect with their present capacity to so ask questions, it seemed desirable to attempt a blend of anticipation, affection, and counsel.Fortunately, all these grandchildren have loving, special, and spiritually informed parents to nurture them. Even so, my counsel is proffered prospectively and affectionately, for "such as I have, give I" unto them. The words of loving counsel and encouragement are offeredas if we were corresponding and conversingas a small storehouse for use in their seasons of soul stretching.Along with the scriptures, likewise included are quotations from the early Brethren found primarily in the Journal of Discourses, a source most readers may understandably not explore, so my eyes have done the scanning in a search for words of special relevance for our time. Most frequently, the quotations are from President Brigham Young who, too often, is thought of as primarily a colonizer, a pioneer leader. In fact, he is also a major source of doctrine and deserves far more attention than he often receives for his treasure trove of teachings, many relayed from the Prophet Joseph Smith but still others from his own insights and revelations.C. S. Lewis is quoted here from time to time, not for his theology but for his phraseology. His articulation reflects his religious resolution and is such that all may profit thereby.George MacDonald was Lewis's mentor in absentia. The connections are clear, but MacDonald is very articulate in his own right, as samples will show.; 6.25" x 9.25"; 228 pages; Very Good wear. Previous owner name inside front cover. …
