The Spanish Fork Press May 1, 1952 City Spring Flood Paper/Poster (12 pictures)
"With these two pages of pictures, the Press endeavors to show some of the extensive damage flood waters of the Spanish Fork River have done this week. No. 1 is an aerial view of the Leland area near the old Sugar Factory. Hundreds of acres have been inundated by the muddy water in this area. All of the water was funneled through the small bridge near the old Sugar Factory, This bridge finally began showing definite signs of strain Tuesday. No. 2 and 3 show closeups of Creer feedyards just below Sugar Factory bridge. No. 4 shows how completely the Noble Kaneko home was surrounded with water. At right is dike thrown up by city-county-state trucks to prevent flood from flowing toward town. This view looks west towards canning factory. No. 5 shows Keith Bradford home; 6 is Dean Wilcox home; 7 is Gerald Smith home; 8 is Allen D. Warner home - all of which have been surrounded by water for more than a week. No. 9 and 10 show two different views of the washed-out bridge on the power plant road near Darger Springs. The flood water rushes out of a narrow canyon here at high speed, to spread out, fan-like, over farm land below. No. 11 is looking west along the 'old Beck road' in Leland, just west of the Leland pea vinery. Road here is covered with water for nearly a quarter of a mile. No. 12 is a view taken from the Bradford Hill, looking north over acres of flooded area just above the Sugar Factory. No dollars-and-cents estimate of damages has been attempted, but a quick look at the damage done all along the river would make one guess that ultimate losses will run into hundreds of thousands of dollars."
Measures about 22" x 16" when unfolded.
This is in good condition, with some wear along the edges, and a couple tiny tears near top. Otherwise, looks pretty great. All clean and neat. Pictures are all still looking good (black and white).
